The Emotion Code® is a gentle yet powerful healing technique developed by Dr Bradley Nelson. It helps identify and release trapped emotions, the emotional baggage we carry without realising it. By working with the subconscious mind and using muscle testing, we can locate these trapped emotions and clear them one by one, allowing the body and energy system to return to balance and flow.
A trapped emotion is like a ball of energy that gets stuck in the body when an emotion isn’t fully processed in the moment. Sometimes life is overwhelming, stressful, exhausting, or even traumatic, and we don’t have the space or safety to feel what’s happening. When that happens, the emotion doesn’t disappear — it lingers in the body, waiting for its turn to be released.
While emotions are meant to guide us, keep us safe, and teach us important lessons, when they get trapped they can block our natural flow of energy. Over time, this can affect how we feel physically, emotionally, and mentally, creating tension, sensitivity, or heaviness in our energy.
Releasing these trapped emotions allows the body and mind to realign, bringing back clarity, balance, and a sense of ease.

Common trapped emotions
These are emotions we pick up at any point in our lifetime, often during moments that were overwhelming or too intense for us to process at the time. When the emotional flow is interrupted, the energy can stay in the body and become trapped.
Inherited emotions
Just like you can inherit your parents’ physical traits, you can also inherit their emotional energy. These trapped emotions can be passed down through multiple generations until someone finally releases them.
Absorbed emotions
When someone close to you is feeling a strong or painful emotion, it is possible to take on some of that energy yourself. Sensitive people and children experience this often. Absorbed emotions behave like any other trapped emotion in the body.
Pre-natal emotions
Emotions can also be absorbed while in the womb. The baby may take on emotional energy that the mother is experiencing during pregnancy.
Past life emotions
Emotional imprints and experiences from a previous lifetime can carry forward into this one. These energies may influence your patterns, reactions, or feelings until they are released.
When trapped emotions build up in the body, they begin to distort our energy field and block the natural flow of energy. This can affect us physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. The subconscious mind will often try to get our attention through symptoms such as fatigue, irritability, emotional reactivity, or a general feeling that something is “off.”

Releasing trapped emotions can be a gentle and straightforward process with Emotion Code therapy. The subconscious mind holds every memory and emotional experience you’ve ever had, which makes it possible to identify the emotions that became stuck and are now creating imbalance.
Through muscle testing, we can communicate with the subconscious and pinpoint the specific emotion, the age it became trapped, and the reason it formed. Once identified, the trapped emotion is released by swiping a magnet down the governing meridian, a main energy channel used in Chinese medicine. The magnetic energy helps lift the emotional energy out of the body, allowing the system to return to balance, clarity, and flow.
Take a moment before your session to gently reflect on the areas of your life you’d like to shift or improve. You don’t need to have everything figured out, just a sense of what feels heavy, stuck, or ready to change. Staying hydrated and open supports the healing process beautifully.
After a session, about twenty percent of people may feel tired, emotional, or experience a mild headache as the body releases old energy. This is completely normal and passes quickly, but it’s best to avoid big commitments or anything strenuous the day after so your system has space to integrate.
For Zoom sessions, make sure you’re set up in a comfortable spot where you can sit or lie down with ease. Sessions are recorded with permission, and the recording and session notes will be emailed to you afterward.
For phone sessions, ensure your phone is charged and find a quiet, comfortable space. Many people like to lie down with their eyes closed to feel the energy more deeply but choose whatever feels right for you. Your session notes will be emailed after we finish.
For recorded and emailed sessions, you’ll be given a day for the healing to take place, although the exact time may vary. You’re welcome to sit or lie somewhere peaceful during that window, or simply continue your day as usual. Once the session is complete, the recording and documentation will be delivered straight to your inbox.
After Your Emotion Code Session
Trapped emotions are released from your energy field immediately, but the body and nervous system often take days or weeks to re-balance, integrate, and settle into the new frequency. Healing happens in layers, and your system will continue shifting long after the session is complete.
Many people notice changes within hours, while others feel the effects more gradually over the following days.

Drink plenty of water. Hydration supports energetic re-balancing and helps reduce tiredness or headaches.
Rest
Listen to your body. If you feel tired or sensitive, honour it. Rest allows your nervous system to settle.
Healthy nourishment
Eat simple, grounding foods. Reduce alcohol, sugar, and processed foods if possible to give your body space to integrate.
Grounding
Barefoot time outside, sitting on the earth, walking in nature, or swimming in the ocean helps the energy settle into your body.
Meditation
Even a few minutes of slow breathing can support calmness, clarity, and integration.

Dr Bradley Nelson, the creator of the Emotion Code, estimates that the average person carries around three to four hundred trapped emotions throughout their lifetime. This emotional buildup comes from childhood experiences, stress, heartbreak, trauma, inherited energy, and moments where the body was unable to fully process what was happening.
How many sessions you may need is completely individual. Some issues can clear in a single session, while others unfold gently over time. A typical Emotion Code session releases between eight and twelve trapped emotions. Healing is often described as peeling back the layers of an onion, where each layer brings you closer to the core of what you want to shift.
Heart Wall Clearing usually takes two to three sessions. Most people have around twenty to twenty-five trapped emotions forming their heart wall, but it is not unusual for someone who has been through significant stress or trauma to have fifty or more. Each layer released allows the heart to soften, open, and reconnect.
The first session often clears what is sitting closest to the surface, the energy you have been consciously feeling and carrying in your day-to-day life.
